Thanks local foster and kinship carers
Foster and kinship carers in the southside area were acknowledged for their invaluable contribution to the child protection system during a three course meal on Saturday 17th March at Brisbane Christian Outreach College. The Dinner, coordinated by Right Connexions, was attended by 10 existing foster & kinship carers and their families government and community agencies involved in child protection in the region. And 10 families interested in becoming foster & kinship carers. Pastor Russell Wright Right Connexions Director, said there are many children who desperately need a family, to be part of. There is no greater satisfaction then knowing you can impact someone’s life and affect there destiny and future he said. “ Who knows what that one life will go on to achieve” The evening was a great success special thanks to Mr peter Hollyock who along with year 10 11 & 12 students cook and waitered on the night Viv Mcloughlin & Julie Harris who looked after the children. Also Teagan Keith, Nat Dixon and Harry Tsai who provided entertainment on the night and the speakers Mandy Shuker, Cheryl Allen, Jim Frame & Karin from Tracc. Foster and Kinship Care Week aims to acknowledge the significant contribution the state’s foster and kinship carers make to the lives of vulnerable children and young people. The week also aims to promote the benefits of foster care to the broader community, and in doing so encourage more people to become carers. The theme for Foster and Kinship Care Week, held from 11 to 18 March, is Foster carers make a difference.
